Safety And Cars

Safety And Cars
By Rober tBaird
In the primitive ages the only means of communicating from one place to another was with the aid of the domestic animals like camels and horses. However with the discovery of the wheels, transportation systems began to be revolutionized with the coming of carts. Further with the passage of time, development of technological tools gave birth to the automobile. Cars have today become one of the premier and essential requirements of almost every individual who can afford to purchase one. But it is to be borne in mind that while cars are an efficient means of transportation and provide a variety of advantages, one needs to be particularly careful while commuting in cars as like all machines, a car is also susceptible to certain dangers and if unchecked, they can cause major disasters. Therefore, it is necessary for the car owners to conform to a set of precautionary measures in order to ensure total safety while traveling in a vehicle.

According to the statistics revealed by the World Health Organization in 2004, a total of 1.2 million deaths in the world had been caused as a result of road accidents only in a year. Such percentages are alarmingly frightening as it only goes to prove that how despite necessary traffic guidelines, as a result of human indifference, accidents are increasing with the passage of time and killing continues mercilessly. This is because, a majority of these deaths have occurred due to reckless driving or driving in a state of intoxication beyond permissible limits.

There are certain basic safety methods that can be followed in order to ensure that such disasters be avoided. These include the wearing of seat belts which can prevent the passenger's body from suffering extreme injuries, usage of brake lights and signals, ensuring total and clear visibility for the driver, use of Dynamic Steering Response and Four Wheel drive. The brake is one of the vital control systems of a car and therefore exercising total control over the brake is necessary. Anti-lock braking system and Brake assist system are quite beneficial in these cases. It is necessary to remember that to prevent accidents there should be separate guidelines and rules for the pedestrians too while the vehicles should also conform to the road traffic guidelines. The above cited reasons may be referred to as active safety measures. Studies have also revealed that at times the colors of the vehicles are partially significant in case of accidents. In New Zealand for example, silver cars ensure lesser accident risk.
